What the CSEA Does:
- Paternity establishment
- Establishment and enforcement of child support orders
- Establishment and enforcement of medical orders
- Review and modification of support orders
- Location of non-custodial parents
What the CSEA Does Not Do:
- Deal with issues of visitation and/or custody.
- Offer and/or dispense legal advice. This should be handled by a private attorney.
- Provide legal representation for the obligor or obligee at court hearings. The attorney(s) for the CSEA do not represent either of the parties in your case. If you wish to be personally represented, you will need to seek private counsel.
- Provide copies of Journal Entries for Domestic or Juvenile Court Orders.
- Give credit for direct payments (payments made outside of the CSEA). By law, direct payments are considered a gift.
- Dictate or verify how support is utilized. (i.e. rent, utilities, clothing, etc.)
- Use a current spouse’s income to determine support obligation(s). An obligor and/or obligee’s current spouse’s income cannot be used when determining the support obligation.
- Discuss a case with a third party without written consent to release information of the obligor or obligee.
- Give payment information over the phone.
- Give any information regarding tax interceptions.
- Locate estranged children
